Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival 2011 – Celebrating Karnataka as a World-Class Golfing Destination

The Third Edition of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival kicked off on 1st September, 2011. The event that endeavor’s to promote Karnataka as a premier, golfing destination, was a roaring success with participation from a record 454 golfers. The 4 day long Golfing extravaganza saw top Indian amateur Golfers Khalin Joshi, Chikkarangappa, lady golfers Aditi Ashok, Sharmila Nicollet, Nikki Ponappa celebrities Ashwini Nachappa, Syed Kirmani, Venkatesh Prasad, Sunil Joshi, E. A. S. Prasanna and Sujith Somasundara and VIP’s like Dominique Causse, Consul General De France, tee off at the best Golf course in South Asia – The Karnataka Golf Association.

Top CXOs from Toyota, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, ING Vysya Bank, Nike, IBM, Cisco, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, RBS and Senior Govt. Bureaucrats also participated.


Besides representing India in 5 Handicap Categories in the forthcoming World Golfers Championship at Durban, South Africa, all the participants were also playing as 4 member Teams, to win the Top team Prize of a special Journey on the Golden Chariot, “Pride of the South”.


The commencement of the Third edition of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival 2011 was announced through a press conference held at the swanky Park Plaza, Bengaluru. The panelists for the conference were Rishi Narain – Founder, Rishi Narain Golf Management Pvt. Ltd., N C Muniyappa – IAS, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, K. Chandra Prakash – President, Karnataka Golf Association, Austin Roach – Chairman, Park Plaza Bengaluru, Snehal Mantri – Director, Marketing, Mantri Developers Pvt. Ltd. and Shekar Viswanathan – Deputy Managing Director (Commercial), Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., The press meet saw an attendance from major Newspaper dailies and TV News and Sports channels of Bangalore.


The event concluded with a lavish dinner party at the Park Plaza, Bengaluru with celebrities Syed Kirmani, Senior Govt. Bureaucrats, NC Muniyappa, K. Jothiramalingam, V. Umesh, K Viswanatha Reddy, Subir Hari Singh and the Mantri family, lending more sheen to the event. The five talented Golfers who would represent India in WGC, South Africa, were announced at this grand Awards ceremony. This was followed by the announcement of the team that had won a weeklong trip on South India’s only Luxury Train, the Golden Chariot “ Pride of South” ,courtesy Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation..
